A Scholarship is awarded on the basis of past achievement with the expectation of future achievement.

ANU Undergraduate Scholarships

ANU Enterprise Chemistry Scholarships

$1,200, $800

Closing Date for Applications:
Two scholarships, valued at $1,200 and $800, are available to be awarded each year on academic merit to the students who:
  1. achieved the second and third best results in first year Chemistry,
  2. undertake twelve second year units of Chemistry,
  3. and are enrolled in a program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science.


Requirements: 2nd or 3rd place in First Year Chemistry at ANU.
Scholarship awarded automatically.

No application necessary.
ANU Environment Scholarship

$10,000

Closing Date for Applications: 7/01/2009
A number of scholarships will be available in 2010 for undergraduate students from outside of Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory region who enrol in an environment-related program. 

Eligible programs are:
  • Bachelor of Science
  • Bachelor of Science (Advanced)
  • Bachelor of Science (Resource and Environmental Management
  • Bachelor of Science (Forestry)
  • Bachelor Interdisciplinary Studies (Sustainability)
  • Bachelor Interdisciplinary Studies (Sustainability) Honours
  • Bachelor of Philosophy; and associated joint programs.
Value $10,000 per annum.

Duration
One year.

Retention
Scholars must maintain a Distinction (70 per cent) average each semester.

Applications for 2010
Selection is based on a combination of academic achievement and contribution to the community.


Requirements: To be eligible, you must:
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or Australian Permanent Resident,
  • reside outside Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory region,
  • have taken subjects or have life experience relevant to the study of the environment,
  • be an immediate school leaver, or have taken a gap year and not enrolled in any tertiary program during that time,
  • be intending to enrol in one of the specified programs,
  • be intending to complete at least one environment-related major,
  • achieve an ATAR of at least 95, or equivalent.
Applications for 2010 are now open and will close on 30 November 2009

ANU National Merit Scholarship

$6,500

Value
$6,500 per year as a contribution towards accommodation, tuition and other education expenses for a maximum of 4 years.

Number available
All eligible students that obtain an ATAR score of 99.75 to 99.89 (no bonus points) or equivalent will be made an offer.

Requirements: Awarded to eligible students who have achieved an ATAR score between 99.75 and 99.89 (no bonus points) or equivalent. 

To be eligible, you must:
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humantarian visa, and
  • be studying an Australian Year 12 or New Zealand NCEA or International Baccalaureate in 2009, and
  • have put at least one ANU program as a preference through the University Admissions Centre (NSW & ACT).
No application is required. All eligible applicants to ANU will be considered.

$12,500 per year as a contribution towards accommodation, tuition and other education expenses for the duration of the chosen undergraduate program.

All eligible students that obtain an ATAR score of 99.90 and above (no bonus points) or equivalent will be made an offer.

ANU Region Scholarship

$6,500

$6,500 per year as a contribution towards accommodation, tuition and other education expenses for a maximum of 4 years.

Requirements: Awarded to eligible students who have achieved an ATAR score of 90.00 and above (no bonus points) and can demonstrate involvement and leadership in school and/or community activities.

To be eligible, you must be:
  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humantarian visa, and
  • studying an Australian Year 12 or New Zealand NCEA or International Baccalaureate in 2009, and
  • intending to enrol in an undergraduate degree at the Australian National University, and living in or attending school in one of the following areas: Highlands; South-Coast; Wollongong; Yass, Goulburn and Queanbeyan; South-West and Western Slopes and Plains.

Atlas Copco Scholarship

Travelling Scholarship

Closing Date for Applications:
Travelling Scholarship for AusIMM Student Members in Australasian universities in final two years of courses relevant to the minerals industry. One week in Australia with Atlas Copco and two weeks in Sweden visiting Mines and Atlas Copco's R&D.

AusIMM Education Endowment Scholarship (Honours)

$8,000 per year for two years (Third and Honours years)

Scholarships are valued at $8,000 per year over two years and are supported by a variety of leading mining companies.

Bobbie Fenner Accommodation Scholarships

Four Bobbie Fenner Accommodation Scholarships at Fenner Hall, a college of the ANU, are available to students accepted into the Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours), PhB, program.

Requirements: Offered to students accepted into the Bachelor of Philosophy (Science) program at ANU, and accepted into residence at Fenner Hall.

I.G. Ross Scholarship

$2,000

Closing Date for Applications:
The scholarship of $A2000 is available each year and shall be awarded on academic merit to the student who:
  1. having achieved the best result in first year Chemistry,
  2. undertakes twelve second year units of Chemistry,
  3. and is enrolled in the second year of a program leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor of Science.
The scholarship is named for Professor I. G. Ross who was Professor of Chemistry, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and then Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Requirements: 1st place in First Year Chemistry at ANU.
Scholarship awarded automatically.

Rio Tinto/Sir Frank Espie Scholarship (Within the Education Endowment Fund)

$ 14, 000 per year for two years,
